Qapco opens Kuala Lumpur representative office in marketing boost
Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) has opened a new representative office in Kuala Lumpur as part of the company’s efforts at expanding its global marketing network.
The new liaison office in Malaysia will help Qapco consolidate its position as a leading exporter of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) to the country.
The representative office was inaugurated by Qapco director and general manager Mohamed Yousef al-Mulla, a news item posted on Qatar Exchange website said.
Currently, Qapco’s LDPE products are sold to more than 4,500 customers in some 85 countries. The LDPE capacity will rise to 700,000 tonnes per year from the current 400,000 when its third plant becomes operational in 2011.
Qapco’s global network will also help its subsidiary, Qatofin, which has a capacity to produce 450,000 tonnes per year of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE). Qatofin was inaugurated recently.
By March-end, Qapco will have 26 self-operated offices and five regional warehouses across the world.
They are in China (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou), India (Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Ahmedabad), Pakistan (Karachi, Lahore), Egypt (Cairo), Syria (Tartous), the UAE (Dubai), Lebanon (Beirut), Taiwan (Taipei), Bangladesh, Jordan (Amman), Yemen, Thailand ,Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Singapore and Philippines.
Qapco’s regional warehouses are in Syria, Egypt and China. The company also has a transhipment hub in Singapore.
