Road trip to UAE/Oman

Saya cadang nak drive ke UAE/Oman 11/04/2008. So just in case ada saper2 nak join konvoi let me know. Kalau saper2 ada tips tempat2 yg menarik utk dilawati, harap dapat share. Timakasih

Berapa lama nak gi? Abu Dhabi & Dubai (UAE) berapa lama nak stay?

Jangan lupa bawa wife gi kat area Gold Souk kat Deira utk shopping kain yg jauh lebih murah dari Doha utk baju raya nanti.

Mussandam, Oman sememangnya tempat yg menarik untuk bersantai bersama keluarga sambil menikmati keindahan alam semulajadi ciptaan ALLAH.

Hotel kat sana paling mahal pun around 450 Omani Riyal semalam. Orangnya pun peramah2 belaka, esp kalau tahu kita orang Malaysia.

bro silver, Oman tu satu negara yang hebat. Masya Allah. Rasanya rata-rata negara tu lawa amat. plan your route so that you know the key places to go. macam eltax cakap musandam is must place to visit. naik bot, tengok dolphin, tengok fjord. try lah naik the graded road dari khasab ke Dibba. he he. tapi malangnya tak boleh tembus ke dibba pulak. at least try sikit. naik the curvy mountain. the view is breathtaking. tapi kecut perut lah jugak.

visit the key areas. i went to sohar, muscat, sur and nizwa. of course lah banyak sekali stop stop. must visits are the forts and fortress. yang paling besar nizwa fort. castle yang paling mesmerising (to me) jibrin castle (atas sikit dari nizwa). fortress yang hebat, bahla (tapi tak siap renovation). itupun dah nampak kehebatan.

kat muscat ambiklah kesempatan melawat muttrah souq. bukannya apa. ok juga souqnya. cuma at the moment souq waqif nampak hebat lagi. waterfront dia pun cantik gak. and kalau jumpa fridge magnet belikan aku satu. masa time aku pergi tak adalah. he he.

spend a long time in nizwa. itu recommendation I. banyak amat tempat nak visit. besides the jabal, visit misfah al abreyeen. nampaklah kehebatan engineering orang zaman dulu. bina water channel sebagai paip air, bina rumah di lereng bukit.

jangan lupa wadi di oman. this country is rich with them. breathtaking. i went to wadi bani khalid. in between sur-nizwa. kat oman ada activity wadi bashing. trylah ask around.

apa-apa pun selamat berjalan menikmati keindahan alam ciptaan Allah.

Timakasih atas kesudian puan utk kongsi pengalaman trip ke Oman. Tak sabar rasa nak gi ke sana. Tp saya plan gi utara Oman ajer sbb cuti pendek.

Saya plan utk bertolak dari sini awal pagi Jumaat 11/04/2008. Dari sini saya akan singgah di Abu Dhabi utk bersiar2 and petang terus ke Dubai or Sharjah utk bermalam. Buat masa nih saya masih tengah mengumpul maklumat utk tempat2 yang menarik utk dilawati. Musandam memang confirm nak pegi maybe lepak sana 2 hari.

saya tak pandai sangat pasal UAE. nanti you storylah pulak kat sini ya.

where will you be staying in musandam? I stayed ak Khasab Hotel. murah aje. tapi can i tell you this. the breakfast is lousy. hahahah. so we went out breakfast kat kedai kat luar. kat satu row of shop ni. you won't miss it. tak ada coordinate pulak. ada roti canai segala. sambil2 tu tengok askar dia practice jet dia. that was quite a show.

musamndam pun ada banyak nak tengok. kalau minat ada pre history graffiti on some rocks. selamat mencari

Kalau sempat ke Muscat, places to go are Mutrah Souq (walaupun tak sehebat Souq Waqif, it's one of the oldest Souq in the region), Masjid Sultan Qaboos (the prayer hall has the largest one piece carpet ie takde sambungan), Qantab (drive uphill with breathtaking view of the sea di celah2 mountain) & dolphin watching (boat ride either from Marina Bandar Al Rawdah or from Qantab beach). Nizwa is known for its fort and the souq there is very traditional. Wadi pun should go, sayang nye, byk yg ruined by the cyclone last year.

In Dubai, the traditional souqs are Gold Souq & Spice Souq, for abaya & kain2 di Naif (bole tempah baju kurung & even Dockers pants di kedai Mr Chainani - famous among MAS crew). Bole juga take a ride down the creek where u can see both sides of Dubai, the old & new. The malls are plenty, can take the kids to play snow at Ski Dubai in the Mall of Emirates.

In Abu Dhabi, I've only managed to go to the corniche and Marina Mall yang ada Ikea.

Thanks everyone for sharing info. Kalau dapat share lar jugak bad experience supaya dapat kita amik ikhtibar. Contohnya tempat2 yang terlalu jauh and not worth to visit. Juga mana tahu ada tempat yg kita kena berhati2 utk mengelak bad things etc.

Sape-sape yg dah pi UAE/Oman tu...please la share preparation untuk buat road trip...like visa, fees, road track yg diguna, petrol station or rest area yg ada, things like that la.

The second biggest city is Salalah which is the oasis in the desert that is Oman. This city is blessed with lots of rainfall which helps it stay green for most of the year. It is a VERY POPULAR tourist attraction as it is home to one of the very few ANTI-GRAVITY spots in the world. I am not making this up. You have to experience it to believe it. If Newton were alive, he\\\'d sure have some explaining to do!

Ada saper2 dah sampai tempat nih? Kwn saya ckp anti-graviti nih mmg ajaib. Kereta dlm position 'N' boleh bergerak sendiri naik bukit tu!

aku dah 2 kali ke Oman, tapi tak gi sampai Salalah. Jarak Salalah dari Muscat about 1000km. There is nothing in between the two cities. Salalah hanya sebuah kawasan perkampungan nelayan. Orang kata view cantik di situ. Tapi, nak drive tu yang tak larat.
