DOHA: Italian giants AC Milan, the eighth richest club in the world, will play a testimonial match to be organised by Al Sadd early next month.

AC Milan, who played a friendly match against a select Qatar XI in December 2002, has accepted to play a testimonial match to honour Jafaal Rashid, a former Qatar and currently an Al Sadd player. According to Abdul Aziz Al Raban, Vice President of Al Sadd club, AC Milan will play the testimonial at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on March 4. The kick-off has been set for 7pm.

“We will have the first-choice AC Milan outfit for this match that has been planned to honour our great player Jafaal,” Al Raban said during a press conference yesterday. “All the AC Milan players will be here. Tickets will go on sale soon next week. It should be a memorable occasion,” he added. Third in the Serie A points standings at the moment, AC Milan have on their payrolls names like Paulo Maldini, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Filipo Inzhaghi, Clarence Seedorf and a certain David Beckham on loan.

Rashid, who joined Al Sadd in 1982, is a former Qatar international, having won numerous Qatar National League titles with Doha’s champion club. A regular with the Al Sadd team even now, Rashid led Qatar to GCC Cup triumph in 2005.

Associazione Calcio Milan - commonly referred to as AC Milan and as simply Milan in Italy - are an Italian professional football club based in Milan, Lombardy. The club was founded in 1899 and has since spent most of its history in the top flight of Italian football. Their home games are played at San Siro, also known as the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The ground, which is shared with rivals Internazionale, is the largest in Italian football, with total capacity of 80,018.

AC Milan, with a turnover of 165.8m Euros last year, have won four world titles, more than any other club in the world. They have won the Intercontinental Cup three times and the FIFA Club World Cup once.
