THE excitement is palpable and the tension unbearable as Qatar awaits its tryst with Olympic history when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reveals its Candidate City shortlist for the 2016 Games in Athens today. The announcement is due at 6.30pm. - Gulf Times

Menurut kata laporan media hari ini, kegagalan Qatar untuk disenaraipendekkan adalah disebabkan Qatar offer untuk jadi tuan rumah pada bulan Oktober manakala syarat yang diberi ialah bulan Julai-Ogos.

Menurut laporan itu juga, kerana bulan Julai-Ogos adalah musim cuti panas untuk kebanyakan penduduk di negara-negara barat i.e. Julai-Ogos terlalu panas di sini.
