Oman Air spreads wings to Malaysia
OMAN Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has started four flights a week between its capital Muscat and Kuala Lumpur.
This brings the number of Middle Eastern airlines serving the KL International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang to 10, offering 68 flights weekly to various capital cities.
The other Middle Eastern airlines flying out of KLIA are Iran Air, Emirates, Gulf Air, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, Kuwait Airways, Yemenia Yemen Airways and Mahan Air.
"This new destination will be a welcome addition to the ever expanding Oman Air network. Kuala Lumpur has been a much-anticipated destination and I am positive it will be a real winner with our customers, especially from the region and the sub-continent," Oman Air chief executive officer Peter Hill said in a statement yesterday.
Oman Air is the 59th international airline to operate into KLIA and airport operator Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is confident of attracting more airlines to fly to Malaysia.
"Statistics of passenger traffic from the Middle East in 2009 recorded 1.4 million, which indicated growth of 6.7 per cent from 2008.
"We foresee that passenger traffic will continue to contribute towards a higher number of passengers this year, especially with the inclusion of new airlines from the Middle East," MAHB managing director Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, said in the same statement.
Oman Air will benefit from the Airline Recovery Programme offered by the airport operator, which offers new airlines flying to KLIA with specific incentives. These include a waiver in landing fees for three years for each new service operated and free office rental for six months at KLIA.

Ada check hari tu for Raya traveling period.
Dapat laa dalam QAR2.2k per adult.
Cuma yg tak bestnye transit di Muscat 7 jam on the return journey. Payah nak survive tu dgn anak2 kecik.
Tiket MAS code-shared dgn QA pun lebih kurang harga ni jugak.
